Our commitment
We aim to ensure that the environmental impact of our activities is as low as practically and economically possible. This commitment is enshrined in our Environmental Policy, which is implemented via our Environmental Management Manual (EMM).
The EMM sets out our processes for establishing our Environmental Aspects and the controls necessary to reduce their impact on our client, our industry and our Environment.
Bailey Rail's operations are low risk in terms of Environmental Impact, however, to ensure all risks are maintained as low as reasonably practical, we still operate an Environmental Management System which is compliant with international standard ISO 14001:2004.
We are an approved waste carrier and effect tight controls in respect of all our operations to ensure that any aspect of our work, which may affect the environment, is managed expediently and proactively.
To guide us towards successful achievement of our Environmental Objectives, our documented Environmental Management System has been developed to improve our Environmental performance, and that of our Supply Chain. In addition, it has been accredited by BSI as compliant with the requirements of BS EN ISO 14001.
We aim to go beyond compliance with the law and codes of practice by anticipating the future demands of regulators and the expectations of our clients and other stakeholders.
Energy Efficiency
All branches use lighting and automatic systems for managing lights and heating. Client advice and M&E design is based on a whole-life cost and environmental performance.
Site Waste
Our work is planned to minimise waste arising on site, which is entrusted for disposal only to licensed carriers. Waste segregation is also becoming a commercial benefit in itself, with the savings being accrued from recyclable and recoverable waste streams.
Recycling
Numerous office initiatives, including waste segregation for recycling, Save It campaigns and monitoring of our Utility useage are supplemented by comprehensive recycling schemes with clients.
